NHS Contraception Service at Thames Pharmacy
Thames Pharmacy provides a free NHS contraception service, offering quick access to the contraceptive pill without needing a GP appointment.
Our trained Pharmacist provide confidential consultations, repeat pill supplies and expert advice to help you choose safe, effective contraception.
Who Can Use This Service?
To be eligible to access this service a person must be:
- An individual of childbearing potential seeking a supply of oral EC only following confirmation of UPSI or where regular contraception has been compromised or used incorrectly OR
- An individual seeking to be initiated on an OC, or seeking to obtain a further supply of their ongoing OC:
- Combined oral contraceptive (COC) – age up to and including 49 years of age; or
- Progestogen only pill (POP) –
- Norethisterone, Levonorgestrel and Desogestrel – to and including 54 years; and
- Drospirenone only – up to and including 49 years.
This service is free under the NHS.
What We Do
- Start you on the combined pill or mini pill (if appropriate)
- Provide repeat pill supplies
- Offer advice on switching pills
- Check blood pressure and BMI if needed
- Update your GP record with your consent
